As the first new academic building for the North Campus at the University of Texas, San Antonio, the new Children’s Cancer Research Center is part of an expanding future campus. The design-build effort required a rigorous design approach with the local architectural firm and coordination with the contractor to ensure design integrity throughout the process. The team’s vision was to create a world-class cancer research center that anticipates and facilitates future technology through a n environment for discovery and interaction. The unique interior courtyard design of the building reflects the cultural and physical contexts of San Antonio while fulfilling an educational mission to the community.
Joshua Cohn led the design, Master Planing and programming effort for this design build research laboratory while at NBBJ.
